I'm Claire Xu, a graphic designer who thinks in storyboards. I have a BFA in Graphic Design from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and a 7+ year career in the Bay Area.

Origin

My foundational skills are rooted in traditional mediums and craftsmanship such as charcoal, ink, and oil paint. Eventually, the Silicon Valley influenced my decision to pivot towards a digital direction.

Strengths

I enjoy designing on a systematic level, so my main focuses consist of visual language systems, branding identity, and templates. Motion graphics is my favorite format to bring excitement to the story.

Work

Working in the medical device industry has sharpened a design skill set grounded in regulatory, compliance, and information hierarchy. Years of working with regulated marketing materials have trained me to recognize risky claim language and refined my organizational skills in typographic layout to balance legibility and visual appeal.

Good design forges meaningful connections between people, and the shared human experience inspires better design in return.
